2023 Harnish Auto Family Tapps Island Invitational Rules

The Harnish Auto Family Tapps Island Invitational is a two-day, two-man, stroke play competition. Teams of two will combine their team score from Friday’s Shamble round with the team’s score of Saturday’s Chapman round for one total team score.

The Game: Day 1’s format will be played as a “Shamble”. This shamble will follow Two-Ball stroke play rules, with some exceptions.

Method of Play: Both players of the team will tee off. Teams will then choose one ball and both will play their next stroke from that location. After the second shot, players will continue with their own ball until the ball is holed.

The Committee: The committee for this tournament consists of: Kameron Trout and Dave Kumar

Scoring: Teams will record at least one score for the team.

Note: Due to differences in handicaps between players, teams are welcome to record both team gross scores and allow the scoring system to decide which ball is kept. Players that do not finish the hole should record an X.

Handicaps: Each player will receive 75% of their course handicap for today’s net game.

Scramble Rules: Widely accepted scramble rules apply to the 1st and 2nd shot of this format. Below are rules to be strictly followed while playing this format:

  • If both tee shots are deemed to be out of bounds, teams will both retee, hitting 3.
  • Teams must mark the original location of the chosen tee shot with a tee or similar object.
  • Teams must play from no more than 1 club length no closer to the hole from the original location of the tee shot.
  • Teams may not use their 1 club length to improve the cut of grass (i.e. from the rough to the fairway), move out of a bunker, or move out of a penalty area. This does not preclude teams from improving the line of play (i.e. moving from behind immovable obstructions).
  • Teams must not “finish” while on the putting green when playing by scramble rules (i.e. shots 1 and 2). Instead, teams must mark or pick up their ball and allow the second player to take their shot. This is intended to keep players from being able to have a “free run” at their scramble shot (shots 1 or 2). Exception to increase pace of play: Balls that come to rest within 6” of the hole while playing scramble rules may be “finished”.

Skins: Team Gross and Net Skins will be available
