2023 Harnish Auto Family Tapps Island Invitational

Horse Race Rules

The Harnish Auto Family Tapps Island Invitational is a two-day, two-man, stroke play competition. Teams of two will combine their team score from Friday’s Shamble round with the team’s score of Saturday’s Chapman round for one total team score.

Today’s Rules:

The Game: Day 2’s format will be played as a “Chapman”.

Method of Play: Both players of the Team will tee off. If not holed, teams will then switch balls, playing their teammate’s tee shot. Teams will then select the better of the two shots and play alternate shot until holed. The player whose ball was not chosen after shot 2 will hit shot 3.

The Committee: The committee for this tournament consists of: X

Scoring: Teams will record one score today.

Handicaps: The lower handicap of each team will be awarded 60% of his handicap. This will be combined with 40% of the higher handicap to create a team handicap.

Special Chapman Rules: The Chapman format naturally requires many special rules:

  • OB Off the Tee: If a player hits their tee shot OB, the other player may elect to play shot 3 from the tee box. If both players are OB off the tee, they will still switch balls and play their third stroke (2nd shot) from the tee box.
  • Changing Golf Balls: Players are allowed to change the type of golf ball any time the player is legally allowed to pick up and clean their golf ball (i.e. on the putting green or when taking a legal drop).

Pace of Play: In order to keep up pace of play, teams are instructed to play ready golf. Teams must keep up with the group in front of them or risk incurring a 1 stroke penalty. The committee will give one warning before issuing a penalty.

Skins: Team Gross and Net Skins will be available
